Merlin has focused his career on proving that environmental technologies, including renewable energy, are not a cost but can be at the heart of a successful and sustainable economy. He has extensive experience of local, national and international sustainable energy policy development and implementation and sits on several government advisory groups.
Merlin has led Regen's successful transition from public funding to an independent not for profit working with industry, communities and the public sector to overcome barriers to the development of renewables and energy efficiency, create local jobs and benefit local communities.
Merlin was previously director of the Environmental Industries Commission (EIC), where he championed the views of the environmental technology and services industry to the government. He helped lead the debate about to how to ensure that British companies succeed in the rapidly growing worldwide market for low-carbon products and services. Merlin holds an MSc in European Environmental Policy.
